'Teamac' Marine Paints Help Commando Joe's Atlantic Challenge

'Commando Joe' is a team of ex-army and serving personnel who plan to row from New York USA to Falmouth in Devon to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.
The team have entered the Woodvale Ocean Fours Atlantic Challenge, an event that involves 15 teams from around the world racing 23,810 nautical miles across the Atlantic through heavy fog, encountering icebergs and whales and taking an expected 55 to 60 days.
The 29 ft. x 6 ft.,fibre and resin composite, ocean rowing boats have all been designed and supplied by the race organisers but each team is responsible for equipment, fixtures & fittings and painting to withstand the extremes of the Atlantic weather.
Teal & Mackrill, the Hull based marine paint and specialist coatings manufacturer have donated the 'Teamac' Signal Red marine gloss and undercoat paints for use on the Commando Joe boat.
The event takes place in June 2006 and is the second of three 'challenges' to be undertaken by the 'Commando Joe' team in aid of the Meningitis Trust in memory of the 16 year-old son of a team member who died in 2003. The first, a 320-mile race to the Magnetic North Pole, was completed in May 2005, with the three-man team taking only nine days.
